Once in a while I have the urge to work on science project unrelated to my research. I try to document these projects and share them online for others to use. Let me know if you have any ideas for me!

A real diffusion experiment
We’ve all seen a diffusion demo at some point in our life. Problem is, most of these demonstrations are completely wrong. When you drop a bit of dye into a large beaker, flows inside the liquid mix it rather than diffusion. Find out more and how do it right in my video / instructable.

How to measure microscopic waves
Small waves are hard to measure, especially if they occur on a transparent liquid. Learn how to do it with Snell’s law and a camera.

Manual microscopes are reliable and cheap, but are limited. I made a motorized add-on that is controlled via a computer and capable of adjusting the z-axis at sub-micron resolution. It works through either a dedicated software or integrated within MicroManager.
